Your notes are yours

Wyrdlog keeps what you write and nothing else: the text of the notes, the tags, the names you give to quests, characters and places, the maps and photos you upload, and the name you go by at the table. There is no advertising, no profiling, and this data is neither sold nor passed on to anyone.

There is no account

We don't ask for an email, a password or a phone number to play. The name you pick the first time stays on your device and only serves to sign the notes you write, so the others at the table know who put down what.

The campaign link is the key. Whoever has the link can read and write in that campaign, whoever they are. That's on purpose: nobody at a table wants to sign up for anything. But it means the link should be treated like a password and never posted anywhere, and that inside a campaign there are no roles: everyone can correct and delete everyone's notes. Changes stay visible, with the name of whoever made them.

Where it ends up

Notes and images are held on servers in the European Union, by a provider that hosts them on our behalf and does nothing else with them. A copy also stays on your device, so the app works with no network and starts up instantly: that copy goes away when you clear the site's data in your browser.

This site uses no cookies, neither its own nor anyone else's, and there are no trackers or analytics inside the pages. So there is nothing to consent to, which is why you won't find a banner.

All that stays on your device are the things that make the app work and that you asked for by opening it: the name you chose, the last campaign you opened, and a copy of the notes so it works without a network. They all go away when you clear the site's data in your browser.

There is one exception: when a new campaign is created, and only then, an anti-robot check runs through an outside service. It's there to stop anyone filling the site with fake campaigns. That check receives none of your notes, your name or the campaign link: it only looks at whether there's a person on the other end.

How long it stays

A deleted note really is gone, and its photo with it.
An edited note keeps its earlier versions, so a mistake can be undone: those go too when the note is deleted.

Abandoned campaigns delete themselves

We don't keep things nobody looks at any more. A campaign is deleted, along with its notes, characters, maps and photos, when nobody opens it for a while:

7 days if not a single note was ever written in it.
30 days if there are only a few notes, written by one person on a single night: that's the case of someone trying the app and then dropping it.
90 days if all the notes come from a single night.
One year in every other case.

Opening it puts the clock back to zero. The count runs from the last time somebody opened it, not from when you stopped writing: a campaign on hold between sessions is in no danger at all. But if you've finished a campaign and want to keep it as a memento, open it now and then, or write to us and we'll send you a copy.

Delete everything

Write to info@wyrdlog.com from your own address, with the campaign link: we'll delete it, notes, maps and photos included. You can also ask for a copy of what's in it.
